SECOND ANNUAL COMMUNITY UNITY SUMMIT
“Building The Beloved Community”
“Let's Do It!”
( A community of justice, with equitable access to opportunities in the pursuit of happiness,
Education ,economic development, family stability, health, peace and prosperity for all people)
Premise: 1. Our individual and collective efforts have given us our current “is” and “what is” in key areas of our communal and civic life: education, public health, economic development, the judicial process, and family stability; “is unsatisfactory” and we can do better and 2. We must change our mind – if we change our mind we will change the way we think and if we change the way we think we will change our behavior and if we change our behavior we will change our life and thereby change our world! And 3. What has historically been good for African Americans has been good for all other folks.
Purpose:
To host a Summit of African Americans and others with a demonstrated concern and interest in participating in the development of The Beloved Community as envisioned by The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: A Community of justice and peace, with equitable access to opportunities in the pursuit of happiness, education, health, economic development, and family stability.
To re-assemble a representation of our best thinkers and others with ideals and best practices that would assist us in moving farther and faster from dependence upon hostile systems/processes, toward an effective state of perpetuating collective sufficiency.
C. To review and refine UAAMAC's Community Unity Initiative, to receive updates on the “State of” the five aforementioned areas, and strategic planning for the implementation of the Community Unity Initiative which will move us from our unsatisfactory “is” toward the creation and maintenance of the Beloved Community in which everyone can peacefully live, work, worship and prosper together.
